Cas 6% kepada prepaid: Kesan kepada pengguna dan penjual

Hai everyone. Recently we have been shocked with the news that the prepaid service handled by the 3 giant companies, which revolve around Celcom Axiata, Maxis and Digi, will be charging their prepaid customers a 6% tax charge. This charge is quite burdensome to students, as they are their major customer for reload cards. "Begitu menyusahkan rakyat". Bila saya refer pada rakyat, do we need to blame the government. I'll answer that later.

Now the fact is that, according to Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia, handset users in Malaysia are at about 15 million people. Quite an industry to profit at.

So does reload agents, get such a high profit for selling reload cards? Actually the parent company profited more. These agents' profit depended on their business package that they have taken to commit. There are various packages with different profit rate. And the one life time registration fees that they need to pay are also different. Among the packages by name are that of, retailer, agent, assistant manager, and manager. The manager package would profit the most. So basically, these agents would not profit much, but if they find a bundle of customers in a day, they would be rewarded handsomely. But when such charged is applied it would give top up sellers to be in a quite a difficult situation. If after this 15 September, the 6% charge is continued this is what will happen. For a ten ringgit reload card, it will cost you RM10.60. So top up sellers will need to deal with shillings which is very messy. Most of this top up vendors, they recycle the same money again and again by banking in the same amount to the parent company. So leceh, tapi still boleh manage.

So on the issue, of who to blame? Why do we need to blame the government. That 6% tax is not new. It has been long being applied. Take MCdonalds and KFC for example. At their counter, they portray to you information saying that food and beverages sold are subject to 6% government tax. Supposedly, they(the company) are the one which need to the pay the tax which have been charged on them, not the customers. But they take a decision to make their customers pay for it, as they dont want they profit to go on for a waste to taxes. Since they are very imminent, and they are confident that, "orang tak boleh hidup tanpa fastfood " so they are brave to do such act.

So, this goes also to the 3 prepaid companies. They know that reloads, nowadays is a necessity. Communication is our way of life Nak tak nak, orang akan beli juga. So who to blame? You decide
